What is NBA Floor Time? Every day we'll post the NBA players with the greatest increases and decreases in playing time relative to their season averages. This is critical information when projecting daily performance and essential to profiting in daily fantasy basketball contests.

Daily Fantasy Basketball Freeroll

Most days, we'll only be posting the playing time data here at NBA Floor Time.  But once in a while (like today), we're going to give you some ideas of how to use that data to win at fantasy basketball, and how to use it to win some money.

FanDuel is running $200 freeroll (a free fantasy basketball contest with cash prizes) this Friday.  It's open for registration now.  You can enter and pick a tentative lineup immediately, and then edit your lineup at any time up until 7pm ET on Friday.  Registration is free and takes less than a minute.  You just pick a team of players (within salary cap restrictions) and then score points based on their performance in Friday's games.  And if you like your team enough, you can then deposit using Paypal or credit card and play in cash entry contests ranging from $1 up to $535.

The data we provide here is specifically designed to help win daily fantasy basketball contests like the ones at FanDuel.  Some thoughts on what I'm seeing in today's report...

You don't need us to tell you that Jeremy Lin's role with the Knicks has expanded a bit.

Ronnie Price playing 17.1 minutes more than his season average is a fluke, thanks to his coaches ridiculous decision to rest a healthy Steve Nash.

Linas Kleiza played 38 minutes (16.9 more than his season average).  When Toronto has guys out with injury, he's getting a lot of playing time...key to daily fantasy basketball value, and leading to a good deal on the (frequent) occasions that they're short handed.

Nicolas Batum played 42 minutes (15.4 more than his season average).  If Aldridge is out for any length of time, Batum can be expected to play a ton and provide great value.  And yes, if you didn't already know that Aldridge was hurt, the huge bump in Batum's minutes might have alerted you to the fact that something was up.

As you can see, the playing time data can provide all sorts of useful clues.   That's even more true on the negative side.  I already know that Aldridge and Granger (the 'top' two net losers of playing time yesterday) were injured in their games, but what about some of the others.  Why did Gordon Hayward only play 16 minutes?  I don't actually know...but that's definitely worth looking into, since I sometimes use him as a bargain player in my salary cap games.

What about guys like Devin Harris and Chase Budinger.  If they're losing minutes, is there someone picking up those minutes who might provide a good value now?  I don't know, but it's definitely worth researching.

One final note.  We're beginning to collect email addresses of those who'd like to receive mailings from us.  If you'd like to be on our mailing list, send an email to playingtimeblog@gmail.com to let us know. We're planning to begin offering a premium service starting on March 1st.  It will contain a variety of additional playing time data, beyond what we post for free here at NBA Floor Time.  If you'd like to receive details on the premium service, make sure to send us an email to let us know.
